… to get your first period between the ages of 9 - 16yrs. Whenever you get it, don’t feel shame because it’s part of being a girl.
… for your period to be very irregular for the first couple of years. You might go a couple of months between periods at first, but most cycles range between 21 - 45 days with the average being 28 days. Keep some shields and liners in your bag, feel great about always being prepared.
… if your menses looks strange. It won’t look the same as blood from a cut. Menses can look brown, kind of sticky or a little clumpy; all are completely normal.
… if you get cramps, bloating, sore breasts, headaches or experience tiredness before your menses. These symptoms are a sign to start wearing a liner to prevent accidents. It is also normal if you don’t have any of these symptoms!
If something doesn’t feel right you can always talk to a trusted adult or health expert.
